Job Summary:

This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. Reports to the Rehab Clinical Manager/Director of Rehab Therapy Services. The Speech Pathologist provides advanced patient care including evaluations, goal setting, treatment planning, family training and the application of treatment techniques in accordance with designated practice act and department policy and procedure. Responsible for providing inpatient care as per physician's orders. Supervises non- CCS paneled staff as requested. Participates in case conferences and discharge planning meetings. Works with the program coordinator/case manager and or MTU/school representative communicating/coordinating recommendations for ongoing therapy and equipment needs upon discharge. Performs other duties as needed.

Job Specifications:

Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Demonstrates understanding of the economics of rehabilitation, (i.e. funding policies and sources, accreditation, marketability, cost management, managed care, case management systems, materials management, etc.). Cooperates with management and other associates in achieving organizational goals, clinical program, and mission. Integrates clinical and administrative feedback and direction. Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; communicate effectively, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch. Master`s degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders required. Minimum of one year of experience in a medical speech pathology or rehabilitation setting preferred. Current Speech Pathology licensure, ASHA certification and CPR. CCS-Paneled required if assigned to Pediatric Rehabilitation or fulfill CCS paneling requirements within twelve months from hired date. Provides weekend coverage as required by department standard
