Job Summary:

This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Clinical Nurse C-CVL practices in a large university medical center with a Level I Tertiary Trauma Center designation. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Radiology and the Director of CCST and the Director of CCST and the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Chief Technologist follows the nursing process to perform simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic invasive interventional procedures for the adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations. Performs the nursing process independently; serves as a role model in multidisciplinary patient care delivery methods, problem solving, and consistently demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice. Applies discretion and independent judgment to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Collaborates and provides leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of this specialized patient population. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands interventional knowledge base and clinical skills. Meets qualifications, licensure/certifications, and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, approved research projects and other health-related projects as assigned. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraises quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and communicates to responsible individuals. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Guide the professional growth of others across the continuum of care through role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring, e.g., designing orientation modules, serving as a primary preceptor to staff or students. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Job Specifications:

Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Completion of Registered Nursing (RN) program required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum three years of previous IR or cardiac catheterization or ICU experience. Active California RN License required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required by end of introductory period.

Participates in on call rotation after hours, holidays, and weekends.
